Payroll Team Leader - BPO / Outsourced Payroll

Employment type: full-time. Place of work: Cape Town, South Africa. Start date: As soon as possible. We're looking for a hands-on Payroll Team Leader to join our BPO payroll operation in Cape Town. You'll be running end-to-end payrolls for 2,000+ employees across multiple clients, managing new payroll implementations, integrations between HCM and Payroll and client onboarding, and making sure everything lands accurately and on time, every cycle. This is a busy, deadline-driven environment. You'll work closely with HR, operations, finance, and external client stakeholders. Key responsibilities: Payroll processing at scale, running weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls across multiple BPO clients and operational teams. That includes shift-based and variable workforces: day/night shifts, weekends, public holidays, overtime, shift allowances, night-shift premiums, commission, and performance-based pay. You'll manage strict cut-off times. Payroll implementations and client onboarding: Leading or supporting new client payroll implementations from data gathering and mapping through to parallel runs and go-live, including mid-year takeovers and platform migrations.
