Role Overview:
Schmidhauser Group is seeking a qualified and experienced Solar PV / Inverter Technician to join our growing Renewable Energy Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including inverters, battery storage units, and associated electrical components.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring that all solar installations are compliant, safe, and operating efficiently in line with SANS regulations and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and commission solar PV systems, inverters, and battery storage solutions
Perform routine maintenance and fault-finding on solar and inverter systems
Diagnose electrical and communication faults within PV systems
Conduct system performance testing and reporting
Ensure installations comply with SANS 10142 and relevant regulatory standards
Perform system upgrades and inverter replacements where required
Assist with site inspections, technical assessments, and quotations
Ensure safe isolation of DC and AC systems during maintenance or repair
Provide clients with system handover and operational guidance
Maintain accurate job cards and installation documentation

Minimum Requirements:
Relevant Electrical Qualification (Trade Tested Electrician advantageous)
Proven experience with Solar PV installations and inverter systems
Knowledge of battery storage technologies (e.g. Lithium-ion systems)
Familiarity with major inverter brands (Victron, Sunsynk, Goodwe, etc.)
Understanding of SANS 10142 wiring code
Valid Code 08 Driver's Licence
Ability to work at heights and on rooftops
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Good communication and reporting abilities

Wireman's Licence
Experience with grid-tied and off-grid systems
Experience with system monitoring platforms
