Essential Hardware Stores

Essential Hardware Stores is a national buying group and retail brand made up of more than 650 independently owned, community based hardware stores across South and Southern Africa. The group was established in 2005, partnering with owner run stores so that they keep their independence while gaining national buying power, operational support, marketing assistance and access to a supplier network. Franchise opportunities are available to stores wanting to join. In 2017 the group added Paint Tend n Trade, a specialist paint retail brand, and in 2018 launched Essential Growth Solutions, an enabler focused on business to business partnerships. Essential Hardware won the Voluntary Trading Group of the Year gold award for three consecutive years.
