How ULC.co.za Keeps Your Information Safe
How ULC.co.za Keeps Your Information Safe
Security on a business directory matters for two groups: the businesses listed on the platform, and the customers using it to find services. Here is what ULC.co.za does to protect both.
Cloudflare Protection
ULC.co.za sits behind Cloudflare, a global security and content delivery network used by millions of websites. Cloudflare provides:
- DDoS protection: Automatically blocks large-scale attacks designed to take the site offline
- Bot filtering: Identifies and blocks automated bots before they reach the site
- HTTPS encryption: All traffic between your browser and ULC.co.za is encrypted, meaning your data cannot be intercepted in transit
- Web application firewall: A set of rules that block common web attack patterns
This layer of protection operates before any request reaches the ULC.co.za server, meaning most threats are stopped before they can cause any harm.
reCAPTCHA on Contact Forms
Every contact form on ULC.co.za uses Google reCAPTCHA v3. This runs silently in the background and scores each form submission based on behavior signals. Submissions that look automated or suspicious are blocked before they reach a business owner's inbox.
Email Verification for All Accounts
Every account on ULC.co.za requires email address verification before becoming active. This means:
- Reviews can only be submitted by people with verified accounts
- Business listings can only be managed by the verified owner of that account
- Reports are only accepted from verified users
Pending Listings Are Not Publicly Visible
When a new business listing is submitted, it is not visible to the public or in search engines until it has been reviewed and approved by the ULC team. This prevents unverified or inaccurate listings from appearing in the directory.
Businesses Can Be Blocked
If a business is found to have violated the platform terms or has been reported and investigated, it can be blocked by the admin team. Blocked businesses are removed from the public directory, category pages, and all search results.
Your Contact Details, Your Choice
When setting up a listing, business owners choose which contact details are publicly visible. Phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, and email addresses can each be shown or hidden independently.
Privacy Policy and Terms
ULC.co.za maintains a privacy policy and terms of service at ulc.co.za/privacy-policy and ulc.co.za/terms.
