Pondoro Game Lodge is a five star lodge in the Balule Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park near Hoedspruit, and retained its five star rating at its most recent Tourism Grading Council assessment. It was named Best Small and Exclusive Property in Africa, Asia and the Middle East at the Conde Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2026. Guests stay in five luxury suites or three chalets overlooking the Olifants River, and an overnight Treehouse Hide above a spotlit waterhole is available for those wanting to sleep out. Activities include game drives in open top safari cruisers, nature walks, picnic lunches at the hide and anti-poaching tours. Dining is on a wooden deck in the tree canopy above the river, combining traditional African cooking with modern European influence alongside an award winning wine list, and the Serenity Spa offers treatments on site.
